I’m Charli Wheeler, owner of Direct Sales Community. I’m a single mom with a few different businesses I’m running. I’ve been in sales of one kind or another since I was 16 years old.
I started in direct sales years ago and have been with a few different companies. The first one I tried, I was horribly unsuccessful at. There was little to no training given by the company or my upline. I didn’t last with that company for long. The next one, I did very well at. Moved through the rank promotions quickly and was making more than enough money to support myself and my family very well. Then, the company went under and I no longer had an income. You’d think that I would be against the industry at that point, but I’m stubborn.
I spent some time doing another type of sales, in the insurance industry this time. In addition to sales, I also trained new sales agents. I discovered that was what I really felt called to do… help people learn how to effectively sell their products. I’ve used that love of teaching when I started with another network marketing company, to train my team members and help them reach their goals.
When I started with my new company, I went looking for networking groups and communities of other network marketing/direct sales consultants. I had a hard time finding one that I really felt had the right vibe for me. So, I started a new group. That group began to grow much more quickly than I expected. The consultants in the group were reaching out to me to answer questions, give them advice and show them how to grow their businesses.
Eventually, I was asked if I do private coaching. I realized this is what I had been doing, but not in a formal way. That’s when I really saw that there’s a need for this in the network marketing niche.
My way of doing things is much different from most of the coaches out there. I won’t tell you I can help you add 300 people a month to your team. I’m not going to tell you to spam your family and friends with your product or opportunity. I’m not going to tell you to leave your catalogs at the gas stations and pharmacy.
I take a more realistic, strategic approach. I focus on teaching you to grow a strong, loyal customer base. Become the only person they would think of ordering from. I teach how to brand yourself outside your company’s brand, and the reasons that’s important. With me, you’ll learn how to grow your business the right way, without coming off as spammy and salesy.
